If you can, at the age of 16, move schools. This is perhaps the thing i regret least with respect to my education. Had i stayed i have no doubt my position would have gotten even more precarious than it now is. That being said, moving schools naturally came with its own challenges. Strangely, I believe the easiest thing for me was settling in socially. For me, who had never before had friends with whom i shared interests, moving schools was a blessing. Suddenly my social life reared its head and i had friends with whom i could discuss art, philosophy and anime. This, and keeping up with my old friends who had also moved to the new school, meant that my frees between lessons were already quite full. Additionally, getting a partner, while a blessing, meant that i chose to spend entire Saturdays at their house, fortnightly taking the hour long train to their house. I both could and should have taken work to do on the way there, and yet I didn't? Why? I have no one to blame but myself. Often I would sit at my desk with the intent to solve a physics problem, or organise my slides. I would spend perhaps 3 minutes on this endeavour before giving up entirely for the rest of the day. This naturally effected my grades as homework was never completed, leading to more frictions with my family than was helpful to the end of learning and retaining knowledge.
I would like to blame the school system, however i feel regardless of the system i reside in i would be unfit for the burdens of a regular person. This is as much of a fault of mine as it is of simple fortune. Many of my friends are incredibly academically intelligent and have no struggle with 'getting down to it'. While I, find myself on a large number of medications due to my troubles and yet still an unable to complete tasks. I feel i must not be trying hard enough. Wallowing in one's troubles never did one any good
